Nitrogen Yields and Biological Nitrogen Fixation of Winter Grain Legumes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Grain legumes are valuable sources of protein and contribute to the diversification sustainability agricultural systems. Shifting sowing date from spring autumn is a strategy address low yields grain under conditions climate change. A two-year field experiment was conducted Pannonian in eastern Austria assess nitrogen yield biological N2 fixation winter peas faba beans compared their forms. The were 1.83-fold 1.35-fold higher forms, respectively, with value for peas. This mainly due legumes, as had 1.06-fold concentration than bean. Soil mineral nitrate after harvest similar all by 2.85- 2.92-fold values cereals, respectively. 3.90-fold 2.28-fold having 1.60-fold beans. negative balance smaller that they demonstrated ability overcompensate removal through fixation. cultivation especially peas, can be recommended achieve high levels

متن کاملMechanism of Biological Nitrogen Fixation
Recently Phelps and Wilson (1) reported the occurrence of hydrogenase, the enzyme which activates molecular hydrogen, in nitrogen-fixing bacteria. Because HZ specifically inhibits nitrogen fixation by red clover plants inoculated with Rhizobium trijolii as well as by Azotobacter (2,3), possession of hydrogenase by these organisms may be more than merely fortuitous. The possibility must be consi...
متن کاملBiological nitrogen fixation, 1924-1974.
Crop rotation was practiced in ancient times by alternating the use of leguminous and nonleguminous plants. The basis for the benefit derived from this practice was not understood, but it was observed empirically that crops were improved and the condition of the soil was maintained better with rotation than by continual cropping with nonleguminous plants. Rotation was recognized as good husband...
متن کامل“Biological Nitrogen Fixation” Book Summary
Biological nitrogen fixation is a very valuable alternative to nitrogen fertilizer. This process will be discussed in the “Biological Nitrogen Fixation” book. A wide array of free-living and associative nitrogen fixing organisms (diazotrophs) will be covered. The most extensively studied and applied example of biological nitrogen fixation is the symbiotic interaction between nitrogen fixing “rh...
متن کاملPartner choice in nitrogen-fixation mutualisms of legumes and rhizobia.
Mutualistic interactions are widespread and obligatory for many organisms, yet their evolutionary persistence in the face of cheating is theoretically puzzling. Nutrient-acquisition symbioses between plants and soil microbes are critically important to plant evolution and ecosystem function, yet we know almost nothing about the evolutionary dynamics and mechanisms of persistence of these ancien...
